GARDENER/GROUNDS PERSON

Essential Qualities:

  • Enthusiastic hardworking experienced Gardener/Grounds Person needed for the Goodstone Inn & Restaurant. You will be working under the supervision of the Gardens/Grounds Supervisor.
  • We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Gardener/Grounds Person who has at least two years experience with perennial gardens and have some exposure to farm-to-table vegetable production. You will be physically fit and work outdoors in most weather conditions.
  • The role of Gardener/Grounds Person is a varied position including; planting, nursery work, garden maintenance, grass cutting and garden restoration work. This role would suit a person seeking a career in landscaping or horticulture who likes working outdoors.

Immediate start based on drug test and background check.

GUEST SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE

Essential Qualities:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in customer service, strong employee relation skills, and strong knowledge of computer skills with key responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Possess a high level of professionalism and customer service toward guests. Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome using a positive and clear speaking voice. Listen to and understand requests and respond with appropriate action and provide accurate information.
  • Assist guests with arrival and departure from hotel, while providing positive guests experiences.
  • Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear communication. Input messages into the computer. Retrieve messages and communicate the content to the guest. Retrieve mail, small packages and facsimiles for customers as requested.
  • Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from a computer system, confirming pertinent information including number of guests and room rate. Promote Goodstone Inn & Restaurant brand marketing programs. Make appropriate selection of rooms based on guest needs. Provide welcome folders containing room keys, certificates, vouchers as appropriate.
  • Field guest complaints, conducting thorough research to develop the most effective solutions, communicating immediately with Hotel Manager for resolution and follow up.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Guest Services/Hospitality experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to effectively deal with customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to stand and move throughout front office and continuously perform essential job functions
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a computer system (Maestro/Aloha)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers
  • Command of the English language both written and verbal

RESTAURANT STAFF

Customer service is a major factor in the enjoyment of ones’ dining experience, and indeed, an important element in the success or failure of any dining facility. It has been established that ‘poor service, not food product, is the reason most cited by disgruntled customers for failure to return.’ Keep in mind that only a small percentage of unhappy customers will actually complain, however, they will inform, on the average, ten friends of their less than satisfactory experience.

Our goal at Goodstone is not only to provide exceptional customer service, but to exceed each and every individuals’ expectations of a positive dining experience. The success achieved at Goodstone Restaurant is based largely on the fact of the commitment of the entire staff to excellence in the areas of food, wine, service and ambiance. Essential Functions

  • Able to take orders and handle all food and beverage requests, using suggestive selling techniques.
  • Relay requests and food orders to the kitchen.
  • Has basic computer skills and can accurately input data to the kitchen and bar areas.
  • Is well versed in wine, varietals and food and wine pairings.
  • Server is aware of proper etiquette and criteria for rendering service in a five star property.
  • Is aware of the Forbes Criteria and Standards of Service.
  • Is able to take instructions and suggestions from the management team, and work in an organized and disciplined manner.
  • Keeps all work areas clean and maintains all server stations throughout the shift.
  • Ensures the dining room is set up appropriately for service and adjusted whenever necessary.
  • Is well spoken, knowledgeable, and avoids slang, phrase fragments or overly familiar verbiage.
  • Can answer questions regarding the menu or wine list and responds positively to any additional requests for food or beverage service.
  • Must be aware of other services offered in the Inn, and of its history and special offerings.
  • Should be aware of the area surrounding Middleburg, and be able to answer questions or suggest possible outings to guests.
  • Assists in clearing all tables and maintaining an immaculate tabletop throughout the entire meal.
  • Assists all other personnel in the Inn whenever necessary.
  • Should be efficient, knowledgeable, sincere, dependable, detail-oriented and enthusiastic. A positive attitude is a desirable attribute.
  • In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of other supportive functions, as determined by any F&B Manager based on the particular requirements of the Inn.
  • Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests.
